Monday Madness

It's been a ridiculous weekend of Halloween fun and games in the city and so dieting has been particularly difficult. Parties and candy and wine are hard to say no to when the air is filled with festivity and the streets are filled with ridiculous costumed revelers.

But I have been trying to stick with fresh diet food - and the task is made easier by the fact that the food is so gosh-darn tasty. I just had a wonderful dinner of cajun rubbed skirt steak, butternut squash puree and yellow squash. Yum! Plus artichoke pizza for lunch and oatmeal for breakfast. Keeping up with drinking lots of water seems to be key for staving off hunger. And I think I am finally starting to really lose some weight. Life is good!

Happy Tuesday

Hi All,

So big tip I am discovering: carry your fresh diet snacks and water with you! Otherwise you will buy unhealthy snacks. Or at least, that's what I did. But today I brought my delicious lemon blueberry muffin with me to yoga and ate it on the way back instead of stopping in some shop to get an unhealthy snack.

Today's meals were wonderful: blueberry crepes and pineapple for breakfast, salmon burger for lunch. Dinner will be strip steak with squash and broccoli. Everything fresh, healthy, and delicious!

Cheers,
N

Good afternoon!

Hi All,

Just getting back from yoga and eating a delicious meal of halibut, sweet potato, and spinach! I have no idea what I would do without the fresh diet. As it is, I come home and in a matter of minutes have something fresh and delicious to eat. I've started experimenting with having my dinner food for lunch and lunch food for dinner. I find that sometimes keeps me fuller and leads me to crave snacks less.

Yum!

Amazing dinner!

Hi all,

I just had to write to share the details of the amazing dinner I just had. Courtesy of the fresh diet: orange roughy fish with citrus orange sauce, beats, and black beans. Nutritious, filling, delicious. Lots of beautiful colors. My camera is not working well or I would take one. But I am very happy eating this food and wanted to share that!

Cheers,

Monday!

Hello world,

Today was a great fresh diet day! I am sitting at my desk eating a delicious dinner of fillet of grouper, shitaki mushrooms, and butternut squash puree. For lunch I had a turkey wrap, and for breakfast I had an omelet. I've been drinking lots of water and also a bit of coffee with skim milk and splenda. So I'm still cheating a bit but I go to yoga practically every day so hopefully it evens out. Drinking lots of water all day really does help with feeling full. If you feel hungry, drink a glass before eating. Seriously.

School is good and I am loving the city! Yesterday I went to see a Mahler concert at carnegie hall and it was fantastic. For breakfast I had a delicious bowl of creamy banana oatmeal, some whole wheat pizza for lunch, and salmon with baked beans and broccoli for dinner. Again, everything was fantastic!

Cheers,

Thursday Thoughts

Hi All,

So yesterday I had a delicious dinner of grouper, beats, and swiss chard. And the fresh diet food was definitely enough. However, after yoga I went with a friend for frozen yoghurt. I have to figure out some way to avoid doing that too often. For breakfast this morning: delicious mandarin orange ricotta cheese crepes with strawberries - yum!

Cheers,

Some success!

Hi All,

I just enjoyed a delicious breakfast of pear, whole wheat pancakes and ricotta cheese and wanted to relate the series of wonderful events that made up my eating day yesterday.

I successfully managed to eat just the fresh diet food for the day with only the supplement of one skim milk latte. So I'm getting better! For breakfast I had delicious oatmeal with pineapple, for lunch a turkey burger with spicy thai peanut sauce (yum!), for dinner ahi tuna with green beans and rice and then for snacks I had a butterscotch chip muffin and some beef ravioli. A series of delicious meals that kept me pretty full - I was drinking a lot of water all day and that really helped.

Cheers,
N

It's a Beautiful Monday Morning

Just got back from yoga. I'm having my dinner for lunch and it's mahi mahi with spicy sweet sauce, brussel sprouts, and squash, yum! I put everything on the plate and it looks beautiful. I think the fresh diet is actually making it easier for my exercise to mean something - instead of coming home and eating a pop tart I'm eating delicious fresh food. I will keep you all updated on my progress. Later today I have a planned meal out so I'm planning on ordering something small and seeing how it goes.

Also, I have to confess, yesterday i cheated. Switching over to diet food only is tough and I had some desserts that shouldn't have been on the menu. So far, I'm good for today and I figure that moving on rather than dwelling on the past is the thing to do.

breaking update: the fresh diet rocks!

Hello world!

So I am delighted to report that so far the fresh diet is awesome. Waking up and having prepared delicious meals ready for me is basically a dream come true. I will have pics and more frequent posts soon but here are some tips:
1) take the time to put the food onto a nice real plate - make it look nice. And definitely heat it up.
2) If you end up meeting people in restaurants, etc. a lot - order something light or a beverage and talk up the fresh diet. Do fun activities like going to museums or urban walks - don't just meet for food.
3) try to save one of the snacks for the evening.
I've been doing a bit of cheating - I love latte's and brownies - but I'm working on it! And I'm adding yoga and a lot of walking to the routine.

Hello World!

Hi All,

Welcome to my world. I'm in my early 20's studying philosophy and living in the city. My day job is thinking about the meaning of life and at home I'm currently trying to balance my life. I've just started a new diet (www.thefreshdiet.com) and I'm starting this blog to detail the journey of moving to a healthier life style.

I am also going to sometimes blog about exploring the city, books, travel and adventures. Welcome aboard!

Cheers,
N
